Kent Myers Design — Oracle

Opening scene from the event animation including audio shown above.

Kent Myers art directed and animated 11 different full-page Flash movies promoting incentive travel programs to Oracle employees worldwide. Enterprise Events Group owned the project and contracted Myers to create the movies distributed via email. Oracle™ is a database and business software company based in California with $11B in annual sales, and 42,000 employees.

The travel destinations ranged from tropical to continental and included the West Indies, Thailand, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Vienna. Each movie promoted a different destination to a different Oracle corporate group around the world and Myers took both the market and destination into account for the art direction. A unique color palette was selected for each movie, as well as local music and photographs which, when combined, gave the separate movies their own distinct personality that spoke not only of the destination but to the countries of the Oracle offices.

Myers developed a template for the movies tying them all together, and making it easy to add or change destinations as they became available. The typography also unified the presentations with Helvetica Neue chosen for its neutral quality that worked well with the assorted destinations, and its broad range of 35 type styles adding variety to the designs. To announce the programs, two additional movies were created outside the template and animated in their own unique style. Stempel-Schneidler, and Trump Mediaeval typefaces added an antique feel to the announcements.

The promotions were successful building team morale and inspiring employees to meet their business goals.
